Tournament Rules:

The Official tee for weekend tournaments are the #3 tees for the Men and #1 tees for the Women; players wanting to play from other tees will be adjusted as required by USGA Handicap Rule 3-5 (Players Competing from Different Tees) as follows**:

MEN:
  • #2 tees = Course Handicap minus 2 strokes (differential between course ratings for #3 and #2 tees)
  • #4 tees = course handicap plus 1 stroke (differential between course ratings for #4 and #3 tees).
LADIES:
  • #2 tees = Course Handicap plus 5 strokes (differential between course ratings for #2 and #1 tees).

**Consistent with the USGA Handicap Rule 3.5, when playing from different tees, players determine their course handicaps based on the tees they are playing AND then make an additional adjustment to account for the difference in course ratings for the tees being played.  So, since the #3 tee course rating is 72.1 and the #2 tee course rating is 70.1, a player’s handicap playing from the #2 tees is reduced by 2 strokes.

When checking in, players must indicate the tee they are playing from (e.g., Red, Gold, White, Blue, Black)
All participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by the Rules of Golf, including local rules in effect at the time of play. All competitors must play each hole through to completion — conceded or ‘gimme’ putts are not allowed. The lone exception is in a Stableford competition where the score posted for a given hole would clearly result in NO points being earned. We all share responsibility for protecting the integrity of our competitions. It is up to each of us to ensure a level playing field.

Tournament Scoring:
Players in the Open Tournament must play with at least one other Tournament participant in their group. The Pro Shop will match up single players prior to play. All tournament scorecards must be submitted in the Pro Shop. Scorecards must be legible and include each player’s first initial and last name. Each card must have 2 player signatures (one card only), and the date played. The Event Man Tournament Scoring Program in the Pro Shop will be used for the official scoring of each tournament. Scores must be posted and a signed scorecard submitted on the same day as play. The Pro Shop will transfer scores posted in the Event Man Program to the GHIN system after verification.

Handicap Adjustments:
Tournament Winners with a winning score of 40 points (68 Net) or more will be cut 1 stroke; the cut will remain in effect for 1 paid tournament.

Weekend Tournament Prizes:
All entry fees collected for each Open Tournament will be disbursed in Prizes according to the schedule below. The total to be disbursed will vary depending on the number of Entry Fees collected. A total of six prizes will be provided each weekend tournament: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Low Gross, and two, Closest to the Pin. Golfers competing for the Low Gross prize must play from the official tournament tees (men - #3 tee, women - #1 tee). There will be a separate purse for both the Men’s flight and the Women’s flight. All prizes will be paid in Link’s credit, usable anywhere in the club.

Prize                                % of Purse
1st Place                          40%
2nd Place                        20%
3rd Place                         15%

Open Tournament Player of the Year:
Eligibility will be determined using a point system approach.   Points will be allocated as follows: 7 points for 1st place, 5 points for 2nd Place, 3 points for 3rd place and 1 point for participation in a tournament.  The top 10 point getters and ties (as of October 19) will play in a one-day tournament on Saturday, October 25 to determine the Player of the Year.

Links Golf Club Members are not eligible for Open Player of the Year prize. However, Player of the Year points accumulated in Open competitions will count towards the Links Golf Club Player of the Year.

Issues Regarding Open Tournament Play:
Any issue relating to tournament play (e.g. winning scores, disqualifications, handicap adjustments, rules infractions) should be brought to the attention of the Link’s Head Professional. The Head Professional will serve as the final arbiter on all issues.
